Passport photos for pennies

If you've ever paid for a passport photo, you know that they can run $10 or more for only two little pictures. Enter For no charge, they will take a picture that you've taken yourself and format it to create a 4x6 image file that contains six 2x2 photos. You can then print the new file as you would any 4x6 photo - and, as most moms know, you can print a 4x6 photo for as little as 9 cents. Just make sure you follow the directions for taking the photo, including specifics about background and white space. And if you're not an American citizen, check them out anyway - they can generate photos that meet the requirements of more than 60 countries. Did I mention that the conversion service is free?

I haven't used myself, but if you do, I'd love to know how it worked for you.

I usually do this myself, but that is a great thing to know! To do it yourself, if you are at all proficient in PhotoShop, or any similar software, put as many 2x2's as you need on the 4x6, and if you have any white space left, fill it with squiggly lines. Apparently some development places can detect that you are trying to cheat them out of passport photos.

This is awesome. I'm applying to medical schools right now, and all of the applications want a passport photo along with their packet. You just saved me a ton of money. Thanks!

Great tip! I usually go to Costco for our passport pictures. DD1 is on her second passport, got her first one at 3 months! They're $5 at Costco. Still not $.09, but better than most instant places.

@Kimberly - Let us know how it works for you!

@CCS - Thanks for that tip. If this doesn't work out, I'll head to Costco the next time I need passport photos.
