Giveaway: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

For Christmas 2008, my parents were kind enough to fulfill my request for a copy of Professor Randy Pausch's book, The Last Lecture. But I didn't finish the book until last week - I'm very busy, as you might have noticed ;)

And sometimes, I've found, there's a "right" time to read a book, when it will have the greatest impact. I think I needed a little bit of centering, something to take the edge off my sometimes cynical big city life perspective. So this was the right time for me to read The Last Lecture, and I enjoyed it.

You might remember Professor Pausch as the Carnegie Mellon professor who became famous a couple of years ago for his "Last Lecture," a speech about living life well. At the time, Professor Pausch was dying of pancreatic cancer (he passed away in July 2008), which obviously gave the lecture special meaning. You can watch a video or download a transcription of the speech at Professor Pausch's homepage.

Because of the popularity of the lecture, especially on YouTube, Professor Pausch wrote a book based on it - aptly titled, "The Last Lecture." It's full of wonderful lessons - reminders, really - about how important it is to live well: to dream, to work hard to make those dreams come true, to live with integrity, that small things matter, and that life is what you make it.

I want to pass on those reminders - my book is in excellent, like new condition, and so I'm giving it away to one of you. It's a hardcover edition, and I hope that for the lucky random winner, it's the right book at the right time.
