Morning Coffee: Ready for more rain

It's supposed to rain here again today, so every TV station has a team out in the field in La Cañada Flintridge, hoping for more massive mudslides, which make for impressive TV footage. At least the weekend is supposed to be nice!

Mommy Snacks has this week’s Meijer deals.

Mommy Snacks also has this week’s Aldi deals.

Here’s an interesting twist on The Drugstore Game: Some Walgreens stores activate their new sales on Saturday instead of Sunday, meaning you may be able to combine the two for some sweet deals. You would only know if store personnel tell you, or if you try an upcoming deal on a Saturday. Some CVS stores do this also - I’ve read that they start around 6 p.m. on Saturday. I have no idea what time they start at Walgreens, but here are some deals you may be able to score this coming Saturday if your store’s sales start early.

Common Sense with Money reports that Denny’s will be giving out free Grand Slam breakfasts from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, and that you should expect a line.

Speaking of Denny’s, during yesterday’s Super Bowl, they advertised a free Grand Slam on your birthday – it looks like you just need to show proof that it’s your birthday. And, the first 500,000 people to join Denny’s Rewards by February 14 will receive a free burger and fries available March 1st through March 7th, 2010, plus 52 of those who sign up will win a free Original Grand Slam every week for one year. Details are in the press release (pdf).

Hi, I joined Denny's yesterday and received a coupon for 20% off, not the free burger and fries. Hmmm. I'm happy anyway about the 20% although I probably will give it away. I don't eat out all that often...trying to save mooney! Perhaps my step-dad can take his girlfriend there and use the coupon.
