The Drugstore Game This Week: Starter Walgreens Transactions 5/30 - 6/5/10

If you're new to playing The Drugstore Game, these transactions should help you get started. If you don't understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money's FAQ, and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. You can find a list of this week's deals here.

It's a good week at Walgreens - there are several items that are free after coupon that don't involve Register Rewards. I haven't included them in these scenarios - just tack them on to any of the deals below if you're interested in them.

Transaction #1:
1 Ecotrin 45ct $2
1 U by Kotex feminine care $3.49

- $2/1 Ecotrin Aspirin Therapy from 5/16 RP or $2/1 Ecotrin printable
- $1/1 U by Kotex Pads, Liners or Tampons, $1/1 U by Kotex Product from April All You, or
$1/1 U by Kotex Tampons or Liners from 4/18 SS

Pay: $2.49 + tax
Receive: $2 RR for Ecotrin + $2.50 RR for Kotex

Note: You could start with just the Ecotrin and pay just tax, but I can see some cashiers not liking that transaction so this "hides" just how good this deal is a little bit.

Transaction #2:
1 Luster White 7 toothpaste $5
1 filler, e.g., Royal Gelatin 20 cents w/ in-ad coupon

- $2 RR from previous transaction
- $2.50 RR from previous transaction

Pay: 70 cents + tax
Receive: $5 RR

Transaction #3:
1 Walgreens A thru Z select multivitamins $2
1 Cortaid Maximum Strength anti itch cream $3.99
1 filler, e.g., Royal Gelatin 20 cents w/ in-ad coupon

- $1/1 Cortaid product 4/25/2010 SS
- $5 RR from previous transaction

Pay: 19 cents + tax
Receive: $2 RR for vitamins + submit the mail in rebate form that prints at checkout for Cortaid for $3.99

At this point, you can roll the vitamin RR into the Ecotrin or Kotex, or just hold onto it for next week.

at my walgreens, in the discount section (the scratch and dents, ect. in the back corner of the store) there were pencils for 10 cents apiece. They make great fillers!! You may luck out and find the same.
