Morning Coffee: Irritating Commercials

What's the commercial that's most irritating to you right now? I keep seeing the Marcia Cross Mott's apple juice commercial and the message that each glass has "two servings of real fruit" (as if its health benefits are comparable to eating an apple) is driving me batty.

Amazon is currently offering the first episode of the new Cartoon Network show Unnatural Historyfor free. I love Amazon's free video offers almost as much as I love free downloads from iTunes because you don't have to download anything with Amazon. You just add it to your Amazon Video Library, which is accessible on the "Your Account" page, and you can just watch it anytime you want, just like you would watch Hulu. It's nice to have these free downloads on hand as a treat for the kids - think sick days, especially. Disclosure: I'm an Amazon affiliate, so any purchase you make after entering Amazon through a link on Chief Family Officer supports this site at no additional cost to you. Thank you!

Speaking of Amazon and video downloads, their Video Twitter account is offering a code for $10 off selected TV shows, which happen to include some of my favorites like Psych, and shows I'd like to try, like Parenthood. And there's Curious George, if you're collecting videos for the kids. You can buy individual episodes, which look like they're between $1.99 and $2.99 each. So you can buy 3 to 5 episodes for free, which is quite awesome. To get your code, follow amazonvideo on Twitter. They'll send you a direct message with your code in a couple of days.

Get a free 8x10 collage print from Walgreens Photo with code GOBIG8x10 (exp 6/19). You should be able to select in-store pick up, saving you the cost of shipping and making this totally free.

Money Saving Mom explains how you can get a printable coupon for $1/1 Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

Man, those of you who can shop at Earth Fare sure get a lot of freebies! The current offer is for a free pound of pork chops with any $5 purchase with this printable coupon (exp 6/22).

Christian Clippers has this week's Vons/Pavilions and Stater Bros. match ups.

Baby Cheapskate is again giving away a $200 gift certificate to (ends 6/19).

Cheap Healthy Good has compiled a list of tips for cooking with little ones underfoot. I am very glad those days are largely behind us, because there were long stretches when I barely cooked.

Oooh that Motts commercial drives me nuts, too!

Right now, though, its the Pull Ups potty dance commercials. My son just turned 1 last month and we are starting some early potty training on him and the Potty Dance song is irreverably stuck in my head constantly. Plus, I distain disposable training pants (hello, diaper company ploy to get us to keep our kids in diapers longer!) so the whole thing really drives me nuts.

Although, to be fair, I don't think Pull Ups equate bad parenting or anything like that. In fact, I know many people who used them and their child trained quickly and easily at an older age (older being 2, 2 1/2 when they start) I'm quite daunted by potty training, which is why I'm starting early!

There's a commercial with Lance Armstrong driving me crazy right now. The entire commercial is talking about how you shouldn't leave a voice mail that just says "Call me" because you should send a text message instead. If I'm leaving a voice mail, chances are I was expecting the person to answer and there's no reason to go through the effort of sending a text message if I'm automatically given the option of leaving the voice mail. I also feel it looks more pushy to have a missed call and a text message show up.

@Jennifer - I loved Pull Ups! No reason to make potty training more stressful. But I don't think there's any one "right" of doing things so I hope it goes really smoothly for you!

@Anon - YES! That commercial is also annoying, and I totally agree with you - nothing wrong with a voicemail that says "call me."
