Morning Coffee: Protect Your Smart Phone With a Plastic Bag

I have plantar fasciitis. I've had it for months now. I get shooting and burning sensations in my heel, and I have trouble walking if I've been immobile for a while. I kept hoping it would resolve on its own, but I finally had to go to an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist just to make sure it's just plantar fasciitis. Why am I telling you this? Well, first, I wanted to share that it's apparently safe to take up to 800 milligrams of ibuprofen a day, as long as you're taking it with food.

And second, I wanted to share that a plastic bag doesn't hinder my Droid's touchscreen at all. One of the doctor's recommendations was "moist heat," so I've been sitting with my foot in the jacuzzi for the past couple of nights. It's dark and boring, so I put my Droid in a zip top sandwich bag and scroll through my Google Reader for ten minutes. The plastic bag doesn't affect my use of the touchscreen at all, which surprised and pleased me to no end.

That brings me to the commercial for the Amazon Kindle, where a couple is sitting side by side on the beach reading their Kindles. It bothers me that they have their Kindles exposed to all that sand, and it's now occurred to me that the Kindles should be in zip top bags :)

I do this all the time! I discovered with my first iPhone that I could still use it while in a ziptop bag. It's awesome for wet areas and other messy situations! I put my kindle in a bag too!

Good luck with the foot pain. The jacuzzi is a good idea. Don't ever go barefoot, and make sure you wear shoes with a real arch. That's what helped me.

@Christy - Yes, I can't imagine taking a Kindle to the beach without some kind of protection from the sand!

@flybigd - Thanks! Knowing it eventually got better for you helps :)
