Update: Rite Aid Playtex deal

Following in the wake of my big announcement, I'll be doing a lot more shopping - or rather, making more shopping trips - because I now have the time, and because snagging hot deals and stocking up when prices are at rock bottom is one of the best way to keep expenses low. (See: the 18 pounds of grass-fed ground beef in my freezer.) All this means that I will probably put up more posts like this one, in the hopes of saving someone else some angst or at least disappointment.

As I mentioned earlier, I planned to buy four boxes of Playtex Gentle Glide tampons at Rite Aid, use two B1G1 coupons from the 8/1 SS and two $2/1 coupons. Perhaps I should have had the $2/1 coupons scanned first, because the computer beeped and the cashier wouldn't accept them.

I ended up paying $8 plus tax, and got back only two $3 +UP rewards. So it was like paying $2 for four boxes, which is still an awesome deal. But a little disappointing when I was expecting to make money on the deal. Oh well.

I'm thinking that if the $2/1 coupons were scanned first, the beep on the B1G1 coupon would only have been for the cashier to enter the price. I'll have to remember that for next time. This is a situation not covered by Rite Aid's coupon policy (pdf) so I'm going to bring it to the attention of Rite Aid's PR contact as well. Maybe they can just incorporate it into the policy and make things easier for everyone.

Thanks for the update. My store allows a coupon plus a bogo coupon with no problem so if I buy 2 will pay $2 after both coupon and get $6 in UPs the bogo insert coupon expires tomorrow :))

I think it's a problem with the coupon itself. It must be faulty. I didn't use the bogo coupon at all, just a straight playtex deal, and it didn't work. Boo.

I used just the $2 coupon and the cashier had to put it through manually ..

@Martichka & Kimberly - Hm, I wonder if the coupon just isn't coded correctly :(

somewhere I read that the coupon was for a free 18 ct when you buy a 36 ct box... I didn't check the coupon though, but this might be the problem...
