Midmorning Coffee: How can it be December???

I can't believe it's December 1. It seems like the year has just flown by, especially the last few months. Hanukkah starts tonight, which I didn't realize when I planned my weekly menu - so if all goes well, I'll be making latkes for dinner instead of tacos.

Meanwhile, it should come as no surprise at this point that Amazon continues the daily Lightning Deals. Today, you can look forward to deals on the Gourmet cookbook and Pamela's gluten-free baking products at 8 a.m. PST, a Martha Stewart Cricut cutter at 11 a.m., and a Coleman grill at 6 p.m. Disclosure: I'm an Amazon affiliate, so any purchase you make after entering Amazon through a link on Chief Family Officer supports this site at no additional cost to you. Thank you!

Also, today's Video Game deals include Monopoly Streets for $27.99, Just Dance 2 for $25.99, and Jewels of Tropic Lost Island for the DS for $13.99.

The $5 magazine subscriptions offer continues too, and there are some subscriptions that would make a great gift, like Sports Illustrated for Kids, Popular Science, and Los Angeles Magazine (which is possibly the only magazine I actually pay for at this point, aside from All You).

Get the mp3 version of Sugarland's album Gold and Green for $3.99.

And this Sterling Silver Amethyst Butterfly Pendant is just $15. Remember that Amazon prices change all the time, but hopefully you'll see the prices listed (or lower prices) when you click through.

Starbucks will text you a daily offer for the next 12 days when you text 12DAYS to 29943. You can also see the current offer here (today's is a 5-cent donation for each hand-crafted drink purchase).

I've been looking for a new slow cooker, and I don't think I can pass up this deal to get a 5-quart stainless steel Crock-Pot for $12 at Target (on sale for $15, minus $3 using this 20% off Crock-Pot slow cooker Target coupon). It doesn't have any bells and whistles but neither did my old one and we got on fine. The only thing that gives me pause are the mixed reviews, but the price is so much lower than the fancy slow cookers I was looking at on Amazon that I think it's worth the risk.

FYI, I got rid of my stainless steel crockpot because it got so dang hot that it really wasn't a "slow" cooker. The outside got pretty hot, too. This wasn't a concern for my because I don't have littles, but I thought you might want to know about it.

@Marie - Thanks! All of my slow cookers have been that way, so the kids know to keep away from it!
