CVS Starter Scenarios: 5/22 - 5/28/11

You'll find a list of this week's CVS deals here.

If you're new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don't understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money's FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.

Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card - you'll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away). You may also want to pick up a CVS green bag tag to earn ECBs for using reusable bags.

Transaction #1:
1 Revlon Nail - $4.99

$1/1 Revlon Nail Enamel 04/10/11 SS Insert (exp 06/30/11)

Pay: $3.99 + tax
Receive: $4 ECB

Transaction #2:
1 Trident Vitality or Stride Spark, 9-14 ct - $0.99
1 Purex Ultra Concentrate Liquid Laundry Detergent, 24-33 loads - $1.98
1 Colgate MaxClean Toothpaste or 360 Surround Toothbrush - $2.99
1 Palmolive, 10 oz - $0.88

$1/1 Colgate MaxClean Toothpaste All You May 2011 (exp 06/30/11) or $1/1 Colgate 360 Surround Toothbrush All You Apr 2011 (exp 05/30/11)
$1/1 Purex Laundry Detergent 05/01/11 RP Insert (exp 06/12/11)
$4 ECB from previous transaction

Pay: $0.84 + tax
Receive: $1 ECB for Colgate

At this point, you've paid $4.83 + tax for nail polish, gum, laundry detergent, toothpaste and dishwashing detergent. Try doing that at Target! Plus, you have a $1 ECB to roll next week, or to spend on sale items this week, like Puffs ($0.98) or 1 gallon milk ($2.99).
