CVS Starter Scenarios: 6/6 - 6/11/11

You'll find a list of this week's CVS deals here.

If you're new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don't understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money's FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.

Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card - you'll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away). You may also want to pick up a CVS green bag tag to earn ECBs for using reusable bags.

Transaction #1:
5 Honest Tea @ $1 each

Up to 5 $1/1 Honest Tea Recyclebank printable (60 points each; you can earn free points by doing the various activities under the "Earn Points tab - there are more than 300 points available)

Pay: $0 + tax/CRV
Receive: $2 ECB

Transaction #2:
1 Colgate MaxClean Toothpaste @ $2.79
1 Colgate 360 Surround Toothbrush @ $2.79

$1/1 Colgate MaxClean Toothpaste May 2011 All You
$1/1 Colgate 360 Surround Toothbrush May 2011 All You
$2 ECB from previous transaction

Pay: $1.58 + tax
Receive: $4 ECB

Transaction #3:
1 Ban Invisible Solid @ $2.99
1 CVS Cotton Swabs @ $1.89

$0.75/1 Ban Solid Deodorant 06/05/11 SS
$4 ECB from previous transaction

Pay: $0.88 + tax
Receive: $2 ECB

At this point, you've paid $2.46 + tax for 5 bottles of iced tea, toothpaste, a toothbrush, deodorant and cotton swabs. You'd pay that much just for the toothpaste at Target! Plus, you have a $2 ECB to roll next week or use on sale items like milk ($3.69/gallon + giving $1 ECB) or Nivea body wash ($2.88 after coupon in today's RP).
