CVS Starter Scenarios: 7/10 - 7/16/11

You'll find a list of this week's CVS deals here.

If you're new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don't understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money's FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.

Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card - you'll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away). You may also want to pick up a CVS green bag tag to earn ECBs for using reusable bags.

Transaction #1:
1 Balance Bar, 1.76 oz @ $1.69
1 Bic Soleil Shimmer Razor Starter Kit @ $6.99

$3/1 Bic Soleil Disposable or Soleil System Razor 07/10/11 SS

Pay: $5.68 + tax
Receive: $1.69 ECB for Balance Bar + $3 ECB for Bic

Transaction #2:
1 Complete Multi-Purpose Solution, 12 oz @ $7.99

$1.69 ECB from previous transaction
$3 ECB from previous transaction

Pay: $3.30 + tax
Receive: $7.99 ECB

Transaction #3:
2 General Mills cereals @ $2.50 each
1 CVS brand batteries AA or AAA 8-pack @ $2
3 Caliber 1-subject notebooks @ 3/$1
1 CVS brand tissue @ $0.99

$1/2 selected General Mills cereals 7/10/11 SS
$7.99 ECB from previous transaction

Pay: Tax

In sum, you'll pay $8.98 for a bunch of useful things, including a razor, protein bar, contact lens solution, cereal, batteries, notebooks and tissue. The razor and contact lens solution alone would cost more than that at Target!

I am in Northern Virginia and didn't receive the $3/1 Bic Soleil Disposable or Soleil System Razor. Are you in the same area? or is this a regional coupon?

@Andrea - I'm in Los Angeles, and it might be a regional coupon. You can check the database as it lists insert coupons by region, and if it wasn't in your area, you can try a coupon clipping service. Good luck!

Also, I just found a $2/1 Soleil Bella printable!

Thanks! I'm doing this for a friend new to couponing, hopefully she will realize the awesomeness!

Btw I figured out what the problem was. Our free county paper (that I picked up 6 copies of) has a different SS than The Post. Therefore, I only have 1 copy of the coupon that I hadn't clipped yet.
Am feeling pretty frustrated right now.

@Andrea - Yes, the smaller cheaper papers tend to have fewer coupons. But I think the printable should work?

    it did, thanks :)
