Walgreens Starter Scenarios: 8/7 - 8/13/11

You'll find a list of this week's Walgreens deals here.

If you're new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don't understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money's FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. In these transactions, I assume that you do not have any Register Rewards to start with.

Transaction #1:
1 Keri lotion @ $5.99

$2/1 Keri Lotion 7/17/2011 SS or printable

Pay: $3.99 + tax
Receive: $5 RR

Transaction #2:
1 Listerine Smart Rinse @ $3
1 Crayola Crayons @ $1
1 Crayola Watercolors or Colored Pencils @ $1.50
2 Carmex lip balm @ $0.99 each & BOGO with in-ad coupons

$1/1 Listerine Smart Rinse 7/31/2011 SS or $1/1 Listerine Smart Rinse 1/9/2011 SS
in-ad coupon for Carmex $0.99
in-ad coupon for Carmex BOGO
$5 RR from previous transaction

Pay: $0.49 + tax
Receive: $2 RR for Listerine + $1 RR for Crayola Crayons
Note: The Crayola Crayons RR & Carmex BOGO are reportedly regional deals.

Transaction #3:
1 Coppertone or Ban De Soleil @ $9.99
2 2-Pocket Folder with Prongs @ $0.17 each with in-ad coupon

$1/1 Coppertone Suncare Product July 2011 All You or printable
$2 RR from previous transaction
$1 RR from previous transaction
in-ad coupon for folder

Pay: $6.33 + tax
Receive: $3 RR for Coppertone

Transaction #4:
2 Purex 2x Laundry Detergent @ $1.99 each
1 2-Pocket Folder with Prongs @ $0.17 with in-ad coupon

$1/2 Purex Laundry Detergent 8/7/2011 RP
$3 RR from previous transaction
in-ad coupon for folder

Pay: $0.15 + tax

In sum, you'll pay $10.97 + tax for lotion, mouth wash, crayons, markers or colored pencils, sunscreen, laundry detergent and folders. You could never get this much for this little if you weren't playing the Drugstore Game - the sunscreen and detergent alone would cost more than $11.

With transaction 2, the total before coupons comes to $5.50, yet you are using 6 dollars in coupons, are the prices wrong for the products or did I just not add it up right?

@Anon - Thanks for catching that! I just updated the transaction so you have the same out of pocket, but get two Carmex.
